Ojo de Agua, Day 2 and 3

Tuesday, we opted not to take the new road again to Llano Grande. Instead, we would take the road where we would have to walk the last mile or two. The terrain was steep. Going in we knew it would be a difficult hike out.

The Bible School went very smooth today. The gospel was wonderfully presented and there was a brokenness in some of the children as they responded. We will trust God with the out come. Since there is no church there a Christian lady who has been leading a Bible study there took all of their names and will follow up with their families.

The team had prepared gift bags and the children were so very excited. We have never received so many hugs and thank yous before.

We prayed with the other believers there, and packed our things. The hike out was very steep and difficult. The air was thin so we paced ourselves, but even then we struggled to make the climb. Finally, with glad hearts, we reached our vehicles. Praise God for another wonderful day.

Now if we can only find some warm water to bath in. I washed my head this morning with the cold mountain water. It was almost more than I could stand. Hot water, one of life’s little things we take for granted.

One of the Pastors’ sons of Ojo de Agua had a shower with a heater to warm the water. What a blessing it was to clean up with warm water.

Wednesday morning we drove over to El Paraiso, “The Paradise”. I often wonder who comes up with these names, but you know what they say, One mans trash is another mans treasure. It wasn’t really that bad, we have seen much worse poverty. This was the first missionary team to go to this village.

The team blessed the pastor there, as well as two very poor families, with some beans, corn, sugar and cooking oil. They were very gracious and thankful. The children became very excited over some old “McDonald’s” toy’s that Keith Mattox had collected from home.

One hundred and sixty eight children came to the Bible School at El Paraiso. We got all of their pictures made and most of them printed by the time it ended at 5pm. The team did a great job leading the kids in songs and having a puppet show. Edson and Edurado along with Ely made sure everything ran smoothly and Ely shared the creation story.
