Before we left TN we said that we weren’t going on this trip to have fun but we would have fun going. Some might even call this fun on fun.
Pastor David Cecena arrived with his nephew and it took 3 trips to get all of us and our luggage to the bus station, but we made it there in one piece. After a hiccup or two, we boarded the bus for Guasave, MX at 8 PM. This would be a 12 hour ride.
About the time we got settled in, we were at the border and had to unload. I’m still not sure why because we just walked through a line and pushed a button and as long as the light turned green we could pass and get back on the bus. No passports or luggage was checked nor was there anything special about the button we had to push. The green light lit up for us all and we thanked the Lord and boarded the bus once again.
I woke around 1AM wishing it was much later. Some slept well, others not at all. I catnapped most of the night. At 6AM traffic came to a stand still. There were some disgruntled truckers who had blocked the road. I was glad that we were far back in the pack, and other than being delayed for one hour we had no problems. I had seen these sort of things turn violent before and wanted no part with these truckers.
We arrived in Los Mochis at 8AM only to find out that our hotel rooms in Guasave had been cancelled and they had no others. My first reaction......well, let’s move on to my second reaction. Perhaps God had other plans for us in making the one hour drive to and from Guasave each day. Besides we got much better accommodations in Los Mochis and it even has a weight room! Doing mission work and pumping iron, life doesn’t get any better than this.
At 4PM we headed down to Guasave to check out the crusade sight and do some impromptu worship to see what happened.
As we arrrived at Guasave there was much excitement in the air. We walked the streets praying and inviting people to the crusade. Tomorrow we will do that again, set up the stage and sound system and pray everything works. We know it will because our Lord is in control. The crusade will be 5 PM nightly.
Thanks so much for your prayers,
Lewis
