The concept of missions, self denial and serving seemed to be a bit cloudy in her mind when she arrived, but as one might imagine, reality, with a little help, did set in by weeks end.
We have all heard of the "Burger King" mentality. You know the '"Have it your way!" slogan.
From time to time I have been known to get on a proverbial "soap box" or two, even though it is not proven good for ones health. Upon one of the so called "soap boxes" I have mentioned the "BK" mentality. You see if you want to always have everything your own way, that is not Christianity but self- centeredness and selfishness. If one chooses this path, I would say, then go down to "BK" and get you one of those paper crowns. Just remember that when the first storm of life comes along, the paper crown is going to blow away and you'll be left with nothing.
Contrast that to a life totally surrendered to our Lord. Just as the cross is a sign of submission the "towel" is a sign of service, the example given in John 13.
Well, the ladies from Oakland Baptist decided to have a little fun with me over the "crown" deal. I didn't mind because as hard as they had worked all week they deserved to be a princess for a day.
On Monday, I leave with eleven others form our church for Mexico. We will be on a bus for 14 to 16 hours Monday night into Tuesday morning. Wednesday thru Friday we will be going door to door inviting those to come to our crusade each evening. Friday night at 9PM we will once again make the bus trip back to Tucson,AZ.
Thanks for praying,
Lewis
