I fell asleep last night, with my Shure ear buds in, listening to some Christian instrumental music that was soothing to my soul. Ipods sure help drowned out the roosters, dogs, and snores that go on all night here in paradise.
Only problem was that I woke at 2AM to Stevie Ray Vaughn cranking out Pride and Joy.
The team did some spring cleaning at the dorm, painting, electrical wiring and we got two ceiling fans changed out. These new commercial ceiling fans are going to be a blessing in the dorm.
After lunch we headed to Nueva Florida, a small village not far from Piedra Partida, where the dorm is located.
First Americans to come to this village, they said. Ely said that we had not come before because the road used to be really bad. I laughed to myself and thought "used to be?!" We Americans sure are spoiled.
These must be some of the most well behaved kids I have ever seen. Maybe they're just scared of us gringos. :-) Eva shared a Bible story and a craft for around 50 children. By 4:30 the sky began to rumble and the rain was not far behind. It didn't take long for the roads to become rivers and yards small ponds.
We take for granted so much, like a cozy dry house and a roof that doesn't leak.
The heat had exhausted all of us. We returned to the dorm and continued our work until supper. Rosa had fixed one of my favorite meals, steak, black beans, potatoes and tortillas. It had been a good Monday.
Thanks once again for remembering us in your prayers. Pray for the poor, the lost, our men and women in harms way and please pray for Rob Nelson and family. He continues to battle for his life. We thank you greatly.
All glory to our Lord,
Lewis
