Day 3 at El Tecamante

A World of Nothing:

In El Tecamante there is no store to buy a snack, no restaurant to sit and enjoy a meal-the closest fast food joint, Pollo Campero's, is at least an hour and a half away by car-but who has one? There's no medical clinic, pharmacy or doctor.
It's a world where power tools don't exist, and everything is done the hardest way possible-at least it appears as such.
There is no air conditioned homes, no families leaving on vacation, no bank accounts, health insurance, benefits or retirement.
Most walk everywhere they go, carrying loads we can't even began to imagine.
The believers are humble and gracious. They have nothing, but give everything. They love the Lord and I know that He loves them just as much as He loves me.
This truly is a world of nothing, but in this world of "nothing" there is something --- there's peace. Something many who have everything never find.

The Heat and Hard Work:
The team shows signs of weariness but they are still willing to do whatever it takes.
Today I'm feeling my age,54 going on 70. My calves are swollen double and this heat isn't helping. I don't mean to complain, but as I look down at these elevated limbs I try and figure out whose legs are attached to my body. A bit uncomfortable but a mild thing to suffer. Perhaps they will be better by tomorrow.
Most of our work is completed. Most likely we will work a shorter day tomorrow, Thursday, and prepare to head back into the city Friday morning. It's been a good week.
Thanks again for your prayers. Lord bless you and keep you. May you choose to follow Him all the days of your life.

Lewis
