Last Day in El Tecamante

We circled together and prayed for the last time today. Already our brothers in Christ, these now are friends also. One by one they thanked us for coming to help them. We returned our gratitude as it was our privilege to serve beside these humble servants of God.

In two short days we will be back in our home towns. Small, cozy places in the world where excess and missed opportunities abound. Our new friends, all men of God, will continue their survival of difficult struggles in rural Guatemala. Perhaps our presence brought them hope ---- perhaps it helped us get a grip on reality.

We tested our physical strength daily as we strained and sweated, elbow to elbow, cheek to cheek, with these brothers. Their strength, however, is tested in a greater way than ours. For day by day and month by month they must fight to survive just to afford life's basic necessities like food and clean drinking water.

I pray that your heart will be stirred by these words, and if you are not already doing so, perhaps you will began to pray for those who suffer physical and spiritual impoverishment through out our world. A condition of many who are the poorest of the poor in our world population.
Perhaps you may examine your heart and your relationship, or lack of a relationship, to God. He loves you very much.
If nothing else may we at least return to thanking Him for what we're afforded each day. Sincerely thanking God for what we have. We are truly a blessed people. Much has been given to you and to me my friend.
Forgive me for I mean no offense but my heart is torn and my spirit weeps at our complacency.
If you are still there -- thank you for listening.
Ely and Rosa:
Ely stayed in the city this week. I spoke with him and he is doing better. Please continue to pray for he and Rosa.

With all our hearts Donna and I want to thank you.

God's grace to you,
Lewis
